INCREASE CAPACITY AND SAVE OFFICE SPACE WITH COMPACT STORAGE

For over 100 years, Dufferin Construction Company has provided innovative construction solutions to complex infrastructure projects across Canada. The company had run out of space at their old location, and recently moved to a new building. Their previous office had storage that was unorganized, spread throughout the building, and just didn’t make sense. The main challenge was that the new space was going to be smaller than what they had before. They needed help fitting everything into the smaller space, so they called Spacesaver Solutions Inc.

CUSTOMIZED STORAGE SOLUTIONS FOR UNIQUE APPLICATIONS

Working with Dufferin Construction, our Storage Experts designed a system that would meet their needs for storing many different types of materials. The custom office storage solution had a variety of systems including powered and mechanical assist high density systems, a large document storage cabinet, static shelving for their storage room, custom designed employee cabinets, and a full file conversion.

POWERED HIGH DENSITY SYSTEMS CREATE SECURE STORAGE

The powered high density systems feature audit control, auto move, and aisle entry sensors to ensure that the information stored within is secure. Along with the mechanical assist high density system, the two solutions allow for important files to be stored in an organized way that is easy to access.

LARGE DOCUMENT STORAGE PROTECTS PLAN DRAWINGS

The Easi-File large document cabinet offers storage and protection for large plan drawings. The documents are stored vertically to increase capacity, as well as making them faster to access and easier to find and retrieve.

CUSTOM CABINETS INCREASE WORKFLOW AND PRODUCTIVITY

Spacesaver Solutions Inc. provided employees with custom designed lockable cabinets that store a combination of end tab file folders, boxes, and binders in their private offices. This allows them to streamline the flow of files from their office directly into the high-density systems.

The Flamborough Archives Storage

POWERED MOBILE SYSTEM ALLOWS FOR SAFE ARCHIVE STORAGE AND EASY ACCESSIBILITY

The Flamborough Archives is run by volunteers who collect and preserve archival material relating to the history, people, buildings, and communities within the area of Flamborough. The Flamborough Archives needed help with archive storage as they had to move out of their building so that it could be torn down and rebuilt as a beautiful new multipurpose municipal space.

The main challenge was that the new space was going to be smaller than what they had before. They needed help fitting everything into the space so they called the experts at Spacesaver Solutions Inc.

CUSTOMIZED STORAGE SOLUTIONS FOR SPECIAL COLLECTIONS

Spacesaver Solutions Inc. worked with Flamborough Archives to create a system that would meet all of their needs, while staying within a strict budget. Our Storage Experts designed a unique solution that would hold different archival material – everything from records to artwork, safely within the system.

We provided a Powered Eclipse High Density Storage System with custom wood panels made from local reclaimed wood. On the back wall of the Flamborough Archives storage area is an art rack that holds precious artwork.

In addition to the high-density archive storage system, we also provided an archival documents move service to ensure that everything was properly transported and placed carefully into the new system.

The Flamborough Archives staff were so thrilled with the end result and our work, that they wrote a beautiful thank you note.

Niagara Regional Police Service Records Storage

IMPROVE TRACKING AND RETRIEVAL OF ALL INFORMATION

Niagara Regional Police Service provides law enforcement to 12 municipalities and one of the nation’s busiest border crossings. Their new headquarters consolidates three police facilities and district operations for Niagara region. Because of this new headquarters they had to relocate boxes, fingerprints, records storage, warrants, criminal files, and more from an off-site facility and centralize. The main objective was to improve tracking and retrieval of all information.

CENTRALIZE RECORDS WHILE MAXIMIZING SPACE AND EFFICIENCY

Working with Niagara Regional Police Service, our storage and records management specialists designed a high density system, coordinated a large file move, and installed evidence lockers to protect the chain of custody.

An important part of this new facility is records storage and tracking. The NRPS needed a system that would centralize their records while maximizing space and increasing the efficiency of file storage and retrieval. To optimize the benefits, they scanned and barcoded each box placed into the high density shelving units for functional tracking and retrieval.

PACKING AND RELOCATING FILES WITHIN THE SAME DAY

The main challenge with this project was while our team was moving files to the new headquarters, officers still needed access to them for ongoing cases. These files are highly sensitive and minimal downtime was crucial. Spacesaver Solutions worked efficiently to pack and relocate active files within the same day.

Throughout the project, Spacesaver Solutions moved 5,723 banker boxes full of records, 1,340 bins of criminal files, and merged 2 file collections from off-site locations.

POWERED HIGH DENSITY SYSTEM FEATURES AUTO MOVE AND AISLE ENTRY SENSORS

Equally as impressive as the file move is the massive high density system that was installed in the new facility for records storage. The system is powered and features auto move and aisle entry sensors. This ensures the information stored within is secure, and everyone accessing the system is doing so safely.

PROTECTING THE CHAIN OF CUSTODY

Spacesaver Solutions also provided evidence lockers featuring Controloc technology. This technology allows for unparalleled preservation of the chain of custody as departments can control and review access to each individual locker in real time. Authorized personnel can track who accesses the system, which lockers they enter, and the date and time of every transaction.

MODERN MUSEUM STORAGE PROTECTS AND DISPLAYS MINERALOGY COLLECTION

The ROM recently received a very generous donation of a one-of-a-kind mineral and ore collection from exploratory geologist Douglas Kirwin. The Kirwin Collection is an astounding assortment of 21,000 specimens weighing in at 10 tonnes.

However, before the ROM was able to accept the collection, they had to significantly update and increase their storage capacity at the museum. So they reached out to the experts at Spacesaver Solutions for help. Working with the ROM, our experts designed a modern storage area that would house, protect, and display the museum’s mineralogy collection.

SPECIALLY DESIGNED CABINETS, SHELVING, AND WORKTABLES

The storage solution consists of high density carriage system with custom designed steel museum cabinets, heavy-duty shelving for oversized and bulky items, and worktables. The design also includes specially designed cabinets with glass doors and lighting to create “visible storage”.

MOVING TONNES OF MINERALS WITH THE TURN OF A HANDLE

The high density systems allow ROM staff to move literally tonnes of minerals with a simple turn of the handle. Each cabinet is filled with up to 50 pull out trays which are designed to hold up to 70lbs each.

VISIBLE STORAGE IS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE SYSTEM

The highlight of the system is the “visible storage” units designed with full glass doors and LED back lighting. These units provide the opportunity for staff to share the collection with students and visitors without having to handle the collection. These cabinets are part of the teaching lab where different groups come to learn about and research mineralogy.

THE LARGEST SINGLE ACQUISITION IN THE ROM’S EARTH SCIENCE’S HISTORY

“The Kirwin Collection acquisition is the largest single acquisition in the ROM’s Earth Science’s history. The timing is significant too, the collection came in our centennial year, a time where we are not only reflecting on the past, but looking forward to the next 100 years. Integrating our new collection in with our existing collections in museum cabinets installed by Spacesaver Solutions has been integral to this project and will protect our Earth Science collection into the next century”

UNIQUE RETAIL STORAGE SOLUTION REINFORCES COMPANY’S CANADIAN BRAND

When architects for Canada Goose, the luxury outerwear brand began planning the company’s flagship retail store in Toronto they faced a big challenge. They wanted to provide a unique, high-end retail experience, but they also needed to store more than 100 different styles of bulky outerwear in 40 colours and a variety of sizes. In addition, the retail storage system would need to reinforce the company’s Canadian brand by incorporating authentic materials including steel, glass, and wood. So they turned to the storage experts.

CUSTOM CABINETS DISPLAY VINTAGE CANADA GOOSE PARKAS

The retail storage solution consists of a high density mobile storage system with custom handles and steel end panels that are finished in translucent black. The end units feature wood cabinets with glass doors that display vintage Canada Goose parkas. One of the parkas is a model of the jacket worn in 1982 by Laurie Skreslet, the first Canadian to summit Mount Everest, and another coat was made over a decade ago for Canadian Rangers to wear in the Northwest Territories while on patrol.
